Handball: Men I crowned champions of the national league

What a season! After a real heart-stopping finale, our first men's team secured the championship title in the national league - and in the most dramatic way imaginable.

With a record of 24 games, 736:629 goals and 35:13 points, our team is level on points with TV Brühl at the end of the season. We are also level with our rivals in the direct comparison. But thanks to the better goal difference, the championship title goes to us!

The decision was only made on the very last matchday of the season: While our team successfully completed its last match on 27 April and outclassed TV Hemsbach 27:18, TV Brühl drew 30:30 in a duel with TSG Laudenbach - the decisive point that secured us the lead in the table and thus the title. And that was on 3 May, one week after the end of the season for SG.

The news of the title came as a surprise to the team during their well-deserved team trip to Dürres, Albania. The beer tasted twice as good!

Particularly noteworthy: before the penultimate match day, the field was so close together that anything between fourth place and the associated relegation and first place was possible for our team. All the greater is the joy of the well-deserved championship title!

Congratulations to the entire team and the coaching team of Stephan Sottile and Markus Hack - you have truly earned this success through your commitment, fighting spirit and teamwork!
