2025 International Shinki Rengo Aikido Dan Course

Once again, the Heidelberg Police Sports Club e.V. On 15 and 16 March, 73 aikidoka from all over Germany and three aikidoka from Romania came together for an extraordinary training weekend.

Nakajima Sensei opened the course and introduced us to meditation. He emphasised the importance of letting go of one's ego and consciously experiencing each moment. Duncan Underwood Sensei, Nakajima Sensei's deputy, led the first training session, followed by Rick Soriano and Bernd Hubl Sensei in the second session.

In the afternoon, Claudia Buder Sensei and Henry Kowallik Sensei each taught for 30 minutes, followed by Nakajima Sensei for the final hour. Afterwards, Matthias P. (Shinkiryu Aikido Großräschen e.V.) and Enrico T. (Shinki Dojo Dresden) successfully passed their Shodan exam. Bernd J. (Shinki Dojo Dresden) passed the Nidan exam, while Ralf R. (Aikido Dojo Cottbus) successfully passed the Yondan exam.

Afterwards, we rounded off the evening with dinner together in the Greek restaurant Kirchheimer Loch and enjoyed seeing each other again and catching up.

The next morning, Nakajima Sensei led another meditation and two intensive training sessions. Thank you very much, Sensei!

A big thank you to everyone who helped set up tables, benches and rows of mats, as well as to our dojo members and overnight guests who helped sweep and clean. We are lucky to have a dojo where most of the mats can stay all year round and a spacious room that can accommodate so many participants and overnight guests. Special thanks to Markus Krabel Sensei (PSV HD e.V. 1st board) and Georg Umlauf Sensei (Shinki Dojo Heidelberg Dojo-Cho).

Many thanks to everyone who took part! We are happy that everyone made it home safely. If you missed it this year, don't worry - save the date and plan your visit to beautiful Heidelberg next year when we host the International Shinki Rengo Aikido Dan Course 2026!
