In January 2025, our long-serving and dedicated teacher, Rick, was appointed to the Kagamibiraki ceremony received the well-deserved 6th Dan Aikido master qualification in Japan!
Rick has truly earned this honour. He leads several training sessions a week at our dojo, specialising in training new teachers and guiding them along the way. Rick's great passion and ability to pass on his knowledge has allowed many of us to grow in our journey in Aikido.
Rick's commitment to preparing our students for their exams is particularly impressive. Whether it's kyu or higher dan exams, Rick is on hand with help and advice and ensures that each individual is well prepared for the start. His patience and deep understanding of Aikido make him an indispensable mentor.
Rick also takes on organisational tasks and regularly plans club and association training courses. Thanks to him, we have often had the opportunity to learn from high-ranking instructors and shihan from all over the world and to make international contacts - be it within Germany, Japan or the USA.
Not to forget: Rick is an elected representative on the Board of Examiners of the 'Aikido Shinkirengo' association. In this role, he nominates students for their exams and also takes exams himself. His voice carries weight, and he always stands up for the best interests of our students and the dojo.
Rick's new graduation is a proud moment for us all. Congratulations, Rick! You are a true inspiration and a valuable member of our Aikido family. We look forward to continuing to benefit from your knowledge and experience.
